{"id":923,"date":"2019-07-13T06:07:13","date_gmt":"2019-07-13T06:07:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/itd.centre.ubbcluj.ro\/tid\/?page_id=923"},"modified":"2021-12-06T18:51:46","modified_gmt":"2021-12-06T18:51:46","slug":"ethics","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/itd.centre.ubbcluj.ro\/tid\/ethics\/","title":{"rendered":"Ethics &#038; Editorial Policies"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Authors\u2019\nRights &amp; Responsibilities<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What\nrights do I claim as an author?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The right to be recognized and fully\nattributed as the author of your work;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The right to reuse your work for a variety\nof scholarly and professional purposes or future publications subject to full\nreferencing and credit of the original (or forthcoming) publication; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\nright to\nreproduce your work in copies (e.g., through photocopying);<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The right to distribute further copies of your\nwork (print or electronic), and to authorize\nothers to exercise this right including for commercial purposes, personal use, sharing with professional colleagues or your own teaching needs;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\nright to publicly perform or display your work at a scientific meeting or conference\nor professional presentations and to distribute copies to the delegates attending\nit;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\nright to\npost and share your work (in full or in part) to personal or university websites\nsometimes referred to as \u201cself-archiving\u201d (including <em>preprint or revised versions<\/em>), in a discipline archive or to deposit it in an institutional\ndigital repository for scholarly purposes without any\nrestrictions;\nwhen posting or re-using your work, please provide a link to the appropriate DOI\nfor the published version of your work;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\nright to incorporate or convert the refereed journal article, in part or in whole,\ninto another article, thesis or dissertation to be compilations of such prior work;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\nright, subsequent to publication, to adapt the journal article or any part thereof\nfree of charge for use in a printed compilation of your works, such as collected\nwritings, theses or lecture notes, with\nfull acknowledgement of <em>its<\/em><em> <\/em>original\npublication in the <em>journal,<\/em>\nincluding\nthe <em>appropriate<\/em><em> <\/em>bibliographic\ncitation for the <em>article\u2019s<\/em><em> <\/em>publication in the\n<em>journal<\/em>; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\nright to prepare transitional or other derivative works based upon the work, to\nextend the journal article into book-length form, or to otherwise re-use sections\nor excerpts in other works. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Copyright<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We\nare dedicated to protecting your rights as an author, and ensuring that any and\nall legal information and copyright regulations are addressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTransfer\nof copyright agreement\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once the article has been accepted for\npublication, I, as the author and representative\nof the coauthors, hereby grant to transfer the exclusive rights and licenses<em> <\/em><em>herein with<\/em>\nrespect to the <em>article<\/em>\nin\nwhole or in part, alone or in compilations,\nincluding those pertaining to electronic formats and media, and by any method,\ndevice, or process, and through any channels, now known or later conceived or\ndeveloped under existing copyright laws, except\nthose set\nforth above; the exclusive\nright to license or otherwise authorize others to do all of the foregoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Publication\nethics<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\neditor-in-chief and editorial board are solely and\nindependently responsible in making\nthe final editorial <em>decision<\/em><em> <\/em>on <em>any<\/em>\nsubmitted article. Based on the review report of the editors and <em>reviewers<\/em>,\nthe editor-in-chief can accept, reject, or request modifications to the\narticle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The editor is also responsible for the\ncontents and the overall quality of the articles to be published. In addition\nto such substantial responsibilities, the editor is supposed to establish an\nappropriate, reliable and fair process of referee review.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Fair\nplay<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The articles submitted to the journal are\nevaluated in a manner completely free of prejudice. While evaluating the\narticles, only the intellectual and academic values are taken into\nconsideration by the editors, not the ethnicity, race, gender, sexual\npreference, religious belief, nationality and political views of the author(s).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The editorial staff of the journal\nencourages transparency and complete, honest reporting, by ensuring that peer\nreviewers and authors have a clear understanding of what is expected of them.\nAlong with the publisher, the editor establishes a transparent mechanism for\nappeal against editorial decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Confidentiality<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In exceptional circumstances and in agreement\nwith the publisher, the editor may share limited information with editors of\nother journals where necessary to investigate suspected research misconduct\n(research, publication, reviewer and editorial). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Disclosure\nand conflicts of interest<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The editor, editor\nassistants, and the publishing committee must not release the article-related\ndata and information to anyone else but the author(s) of the article, the\nreferees, any other editor assistants and the publisher. The\nunpublished materials involved in the articles submitted to the Journal are not\nallowed to be used by anyone else without the clear written permission from the\nauthor(s) of the article.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The editor must not be involved in decisions\nabout papers which s\/he has written him\/herself or have been written by family\nmembers or colleagues or which relate to products or services in which the\neditor has an interest. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The editor shall apply journal\u2019s policy relating\nto the disclosure of potential conflicts of interest by authors and reviewers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Prevention\nand Fight against Plagiarism<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Authors\nof the journal must be aware and understand that we intend to prevent, and also\nsanction attempts and acts of plagiarism! Therefore, the\neditorial board will judge any case of <em>plagiarism\non<\/em>\nits limits.\nAuthors are hereby advised that:\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If <em>plagiarism<\/em> is\ndetected by the <em>editorial board<\/em> member or <em>reviewer<\/em>, <em>in<\/em>\nany\nstage of article process-before or after acceptance, then this will\nautomatically lead to: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>rejecting the manuscript from being published;<\/li><li>totally dismissal of the author as future potential author\n     of the journal;<\/li><li>informing the higher education or research institution of\n     the author\u2019s affiliation as well as the scholarly community and public opinion.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Upon\nnotification on allegation of plagiarism for any article that has been previously\npublished and following the thorough verification of the notification, the Editorial\nStaff will take the following steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>officially inform the higher education\nor research institution of the author\u2019s affiliation, making available all necessary\ndocuments (including the author\u2019s responsible declaration of originality)<\/li><li>then the Editorial Staff will advise\nthe most important international databases about the allegation of plagiarism, and<\/li><li>will publish (onsite, etc.) its official position on the matter.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As conceptual and general guidelines on plagiarism \u201cWhat Constitutes Plagiarism?\u201d, in \u201cHarvard Guide to Using Sources\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/isites.harvard.edu\/icb\/icb.do?keyword=k70847&amp;pageid=icb.page342054\">http:\/\/isites.harvard.edu\/icb\/icb.do?keyword=k70847&amp;pageid=icb.page342054<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Duties of Reviewers<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Contribution\nto Editorial Decisions<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The submitted <em>articles<\/em>\nare subject to a <em>peer review<\/em> process. Your\nsubmitted article will be evaluated by at least two independent <em>reviewers<\/em>\nwhose promptly and objectively feedback will <em>contribute<\/em><em> <\/em>to the <em>editor\u2019s\ndecision<\/em> on whether to accept or reject the article.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Promptness<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Any\nselected referee who is\nassigned to review an article feels that he\/she is not competent enough to\nevaluate the article must inform the editor accordingly and resign from the\nreview process. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Confidentiality<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The articles accepted to be evaluated are\nto be considered confidential documents. Such articles must not be released to\nand\/or discussed with anyone but the persons authorized by the editor. Any information\nand\/or views gained through the referee review process are to be kept\nconfidential and must not be used for personal interests. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Standards\nof Objectivity<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reviewers must express their objective\ncomments and clear views that\ndo not include personal criticism of the author with supporting arguments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Acknowledgement\nof Sources<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reviewers are\nsupposed to define or recognize, the relevant published studies which have not\nbeen involved in the articles being reviewed. They are also supposed to draw\nthe attention of the editor to any considerable similarity, and\/or equivalence\nhe\/she has detected between the article under review and any other studies\nhe\/she has known.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Disclosure\nand Conflict of Interest<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a general rule,\nwhen asked to assess an article, the reviewers must <em>disclose<\/em><em> <\/em>any <em>conflicts\nof interest<\/em> to the editor and, if serious, simply refrain from\nreviewing it.<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Duties of Authors<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reporting\nstandards<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Submitted articles\nto the journal must be original. The data used in the article must be inserted\ninto the study with utmost care, and the article must comprise details and\nsources at a satisfactory extent. Deceitful and deliberately made mistakes are\nnot acceptable as they are likely to tend to unethical situations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Data\nAccess and Retention<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Authors might be\nrequired to submit any raw data related to the article that could be needed\nduring the evaluation process. So, they are supposed to get ready to provide\naccess to such data and retain it for a reasonable period following the article\nhas been published.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Originality\nand Plagiarism<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By submitting\ntheir articles, the authors are thought to have guaranteed, or ensured, that\ntheir articles are original and compliant with ethics standards, all the\nsources used have rightfully been cited, and they have no similarities and\/or\nequivalence with any other articles already published or at the process\/stage\nof being published.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Multiple,\nRedundant or Concurrent Publication<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Submitting the\nsame contents simultaneously to more than one journal is not ethical and not\nacceptable. Authors\nthat are found to have been published elsewhere, or to be under review\nelsewhere, will incur duplicate submission\/publication sanctions. Authors\nshould not have been published or currently submitted their work elsewhere.\nDuplicate publication is a violation of the code of ethics and will be grounds\nfor prompt rejection of the submitted manuscript. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Acknowledgement\nof Sources<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Authors must acknowledge the\noriginal source and ensure that they describe their methods and material\n<em>sources<\/em> in sufficient detail including grant\nsupport or funding <em>sources<\/em><em> <\/em>that supported their research in\nconnection to the submitted article.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Authorship\nof the Paper<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The author(s) must be limited to referring to the\nperson(s) who make(s) meaningful and effective contributions to the concept,\ndesign, implementation or interpretation of the article\/study reported. All the\nparties\/persons who make substantial contributions to the study must follow the\nfirst author in the list of the authors. He\/she is the one entitled to handle\ncontacts and correspondence with the editor of the journal and recognized as a\ncontact address who must have all the co-authors get involved in the article.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Hazards\nand Human or Animal Subjects<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Authors must\nhighlight very clearly, in their experimental details, any hazards or risks\nassociated with the reported work and include appropriate warnings. Authors\nmust call attention to any hazardous materials or operations and it is vital\nthat any relevant safety precautions or standard codes of practice are explicitly\ncited, or included as supplementary information, as appropriate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When a study\ninvolves the use of live animals or human subjects, authors must include in the\n\u2018methods\/experimental\u2019 section of the manuscript a statement that all\nexperiments were performed in compliance with the author\u2019s institute\u2019s policy\non animal use and ethics; where possible, details of compliance with national\nor international laws or guidelines should be included. The statement must name\nthe institutional\/local ethics committee which has approved the study; where\npossible, the approval or case number should be provided. A statement that\ninformed consent was obtained for any experimentation with human subjects is\nrequired. Reviewers may be asked to comment specifically on any cases in which\nconcerns arise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Disclosure\nand Conflicts of Interest<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All the authors are liable to declare, or\ndisclose any financial sources or interest conflicts that are likely to affect\nthe conclusion or the evaluation and\/or interpretation concerning their\narticle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Fundamental\nerrors in published works<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When\nan author notices\nan important mistake in his\/her article that has already been published, he\/she\nhas got to inform the editor of the Journal accordingly and cooperate with\nhim\/her in correcting the mistake.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement Authors\u2019 Rights &amp; Responsibilities What rights do I claim as an author?
